Lavender tea for headaches
Lavender is back in bloom, adding an explosion of colour to our gardens and balconies. But our latest home remedy tip can do much more than that: lavender oil, tea or bath essence can alleviate nervousness, sleep disorders and headaches, and soothe irritated skin.
Effect
Lavender has a relaxing, soothing and anti-inflammatory effect. Used in the form of oil, tea or bath essence, it can alleviate nervousness, sleep disorders and headaches, and soothe irritated skin.
Lavender tea
For one cup of lavender tea: add one teaspoon of dried or two teaspoons of fresh lavender flowers to boiling water and leave to infuse for around 5 minutes.
Lavender bath
Add one cup of lavender flowers to one litre of water and bring to the boil. Strain and add to bathwater. The temperature of the bathwater should be 28-38 degrees.
Enjoy a relaxing bath for 15-20 minutes. It is then advisable to lie down for at least 30 minutes. So the best time to take a bath is directly before going to bed.
Lavender oil
For headaches, rub your temples gently with lavender oil. Lavender oil is best bought at a pharmacy.
